Difference Between Canvas and PVC tarp

Difference Between Canvas and PVC tarp?

Canvas Tarps:

Canvas tarpaulins are also known as cotton duck as it is tightly woven and is completely natural as made up from cotton. These tarps are strong and breathable made from cotton duck and triple-thick hems. These sheets come with brass eyelets having 2ft interval spacing and ideal for fitting standard heavy-duty tent pegs and guy ropes. Manufactured from a heavy-duty material which is wax-processed and made from single cotton duck reciprocate to a criterion polyethylene sheet. It insulates well as in summer season protect from hot sunshine and in winter season protect from cold wind. Canvas sheets are breathable and eco-friendly. All seams and hems are double-stitched. Some of the features of these tarps are as follows

Features:

  • Water-resistant poly

  • An eco-friendlier alternate to PE tarps

  • Heavy-duty and long term

  • Breathable

  • waterproof

  • Affordable

  • Weatherproof finish

  • Custom option available

PVC tarps:

PVC comes in the form of rigid and flexible. PVC tarpaulin is fabricated from polyethylene polyester fabric with durable material. These tarps are completely waterproof and UV protected. These are manufactured by the combination of cloth, glue, toughness having hood products and sunscreen. These are produced according to the specification size as are widely used as eco-agriculture, tents, truck cover, architectural and geotextile. Some of the features of these tarps are as follows

Features:

  •  UV, abrasion and weather-resistant

  • Often used as truck covers, roll tarps, wind-out tarps

  • Able to be heat welded and easy to repair

  • Completely waterproof

  • Flame retardant

  • Grease-resistant, oil, acid mildew

The difference between Canvas and PVC is that Canvas Tarpaulin is thick and have weave density whereas PVC are thick and have outer coating. Canvas is made up of natural material such as cotton, it is breathable therefore condensation underneath if the temperature falls or rises quickly. PVC is fabricated from plastic as it can be welded whereas much easier to repair, clean and reusable.  Both Canvas and PVC are liable to UV radiation. Canvas is water resistant but not waterproof whereas PVC is completely waterproof. Canvas tarps shrink because of cotton whereas PVC doesn’t shrink because of artificial fiber. Both Canvas and PVC are fire retardant and are not naturally fir-resistant. PVC is much easier to repair as are welded whereas canvas is made from natural fabric and are not repaired easily. Canvas tarps are more expensive as made up of durable material and have faded good condition whereas PVC is less expensive as made up of plastic and become brittle subject to flex cracking. PVC are heavier as used for large applications such as truck, trailer tarps usually manoeuvred by person. Canvas is more expensive than PVC because cotton fabrics are naturally more expensive than plastic. As this is much more durable as compared to PVC with long term use whereas PVC are cost-effective and can be repaired without any cost. PVC is more significant as for long time outdoor goods cover yarn rain, rolling canvas, cargo cover goods.
